Rain forests threatened Again in Brazil

by admin on June 29, 2010

“No Gringo should stick their nose where it does not belong.”

-Brazilian President, Lula de Silva in reaction to environmental activists James Cameron and @yogiSTING Sting protesting a new hydroeletric dam that is being built in the Amazon rain forest. (Associated Press, June 22, 2010).

The rain forests belong to all of humanity not just the Brazilians. It is quite possible that the cure for cancer may be discovered in the rain forests.  Of course the rain forests and the oceans sequester 20% of planet’s greenhouse gasses.

President Lulu has been a supporter of protecting the Brazilian rain forests in the past. Hope the big corporations have not paid him off. This smells of power and money.

With all due respect Mr. President, the rainforest are ALL of humanity’s treasures!

The world falls damned to ignorance. This generation fails the history lessons and is doomed to repeat the woes of the past at an exponential rate. As the tropical rain forest, which supplies most of the world’s oxygen, falls so does the human race. Everything becomes endangered in a race for extinction.
